Singapore To Ban Sale Of Elephant Ivory
Singapore said Monday (12th August 2019) that the government will tighten its campaign against illegal wildlife trade and blanket the domestic sale of elephant ivory and products from 2021 onwards. The announcement on World Elephant Day follows 2 years of consultations with NGOs, elephant retailers, and the public.

Authorities in the city-state made their largest ever seizure of smuggled elephant ivory last month, to be confiscated a haul of nearly 9 tonnes of prohibited ivory from an estimated 300 African elephants valued at $12.9 million. Singapore has banned international trade in all kinds of elephant products since 1990.

Delhi-Lahore Bus Service Cancelled
A senior official of the public transporter, the Delhi Transport Corporation on Monday (12th August 2019) canceled the Delhi to Lahore bus service as Pakistan has decided to stop it after India canceled the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. A senior Pakistani minister on Saturday (10th August 2019) announced the suspension of the bus service from Monday (12th August 2019). The DTC bus was scheduled to depart for Lahore at 06:00 AM on Today (August 12, 2019, Monday). 

However, the official said that it did not leave because Pakistan decided to stop the bus service. The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation on Saturday (August 10, 2019) telephoned the DTC to discontinue service from Monday.

Rajasthan Deputy CM and state Congress president Sachin Pilot said in Jaipur, that the Congress party has decided to nominate former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from the state and he will be filing 4 sets of nominations here on Tuesday (13th August 2019).

After the death of BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini in June, the seat got vacant. Rajasthan has Ten Rajya Sabha seats. Congress has a majority in the state legislature. The Rajasthan Assembly has 200 seats, 2 of which are vacant.
