UN Re-Elects India's Jagjit Pavadia to INCB

UN Re-Elects India's Jagjit Pavadia to INCB
Jagjit Pavadia has been re-elected with highest number of votes by the United Nation Economic and Social Council to a 5 year term on INCB (International Narcotics Control Board), while China's candidate lost. Jagjit Pavadia polled 44 votes on Tuesday (7th May 2019) in the 1st round of voting in the 54 member Council facing a field of 15 candidates for 5 seats up for election this year ensuring her continuance on the board.

Only 2 other candidates, Cesar Tomas Arce Rivas of Paraguay and  Jallal Toufiq of Morocco received more than the minimum votes needed for election in the 1st round and Viviana Manrique Zuluaga and Bernard Leroy of France of Colombia were elected in the next round. They will begin their term on 2nd March 2019, next year.

5G Spectrum Trial to Begin in June 2019
The most awaited network trial for 5G services in India is slated to start from June 2019, with a Telecom Ministry panel recommending spectrum for the test run to the incumbent telecom for a 3 month period. The Telecom panel which deliberated on the quantum and duration of the spectrum trial has recommended 5G spectrum to Vodafone, Airtel,  Reliance Jio, Idea initially for 3 months, which can be measure up to 1 year in case they need more time for network stabilization.

The official source said, that the 3 equipment vendors who have got the green signal from the telecom panel are Nokia, Samsung and Ericsson.

On that day, women living with ovarian cancer, their supporters and families, along with patient advocacy institution from all over the world come together to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. World Ovarian Cancer Day is the only one day of each year, we all raise our voices in unity across the world in the fight against this WOCD.

The first World Ovarian Cancer Day took place in 2013 and is an initiative of the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Today 295,000+ women around the world are diagnosed annually ovarian cancer. 184,000+ deaths are cause by ovarian cancer every year.

On May 8th, National Amyloidosis Day were takes place each year with the aim of raising awareness for Amyloidosis. It is a rare disease that occurs when a substance called Amyloid builds up in your organs. Amyloid is an abnormal protein which produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any organ or tissue.

When Amyloidosis does, it affects their shape and how they work. It is a serious health problem that can lead to life threatening organ failure. The treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured.

World Thalassemia Day

World Thalassemia Day
World Thalassemia Day is observed on 8th May every year. This day is meant to raise awareness about thalassemia disease, an inherited blood disorder which is characterized by less hemoglobin and lesser than normal blood cells. A person who suffering from thalassemia has at least one of the parents as carrier of the thalassemia disease.

Genetic mutation and deletion of some key gene fragments can lead to thalassemia. A person suffering from thalassemia is likely to have bone defects, especially in the face.
