To Legalize Human Composting, Washington Becomes 1st US State
Washington on Tuesday (21st May 2019) became the 1st United States state to legalize human fertilizer after it's eco-friendly governor signed a bill to that effect in a bid to cut carbon emissions from cremations and burials. 

Under the new law, that will go into the effect in May 2020, the people who die in the state will have the option to have their dead bodies transformed into a soil suitable for use in gardening in a process called re-composition. Katrina Spade said, that the re-composition offers an alternative to lodging and burial or cremation that is safe, sustainable, natural and will result in significant savings in carbon emissions and land usage.

First Year Anniversary, Sterlite Protests in Thoothukudi
On 22nd May 2018, during protests demanding to closure of the Vedanta's Sterlite Copper smelting plant in Thoothukudi, Tamilnadu, 13 people were killed in the firing opened by police personnel. On Wednesday (May 22, 2019), To mark the 1st anniversary of the grave incident, scores of locals turned up to remember the victims at Thoothukudi in TN. 

Local people lit candles and placed them before the pictures of those who lost their lives while police firing. A various number of events are being held in different parts of the Thoothukudi district. For the purpose of routine maintenance for 2 months, the copper smelting plant was closed in March 2018. However, on 28 May 2018, the plant was shut down permanently in the wake of violence.

ISRO Successfully Launches Earth Observation Satellite RISAT-2B
On Wednesday (22nd May 2019), In a pre-dawn launch, Indian space agency ISRO created history by successfully launching the earth observation satellite RISAT-2B, that would increase the country's surveillance capabilities among others. 

As the 25 hours countdown which had started Tuesday (21st May 2019) concluded the agency's trusted workhorse, the PSLV-C46 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) blasted off at 05:30 am from the 1st launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh here on it's 48th mission which carrying the 615 kg satellite. 

The Radar Imaging Satellite-2B (RISAT-2B) meant for application in fields such as agriculture,  surveillance, disaster management and forestry support was successfully released into it's orbit at about 15 min and 30 sec after the lift-off.

India's crashed out of the Sudirman Cup 2019 mixed team badminton championships hosted by China on Wednesday (22nd May 2019) after as Saina Nehwal and Sameer Verma lost their respective matches to suffer a 0-5 defeat against China in the Group 1D. 

This is India's 2nd consecutive defeat in the Sudirman Cup 2019 as they lost 2-3 against Malaysia on Tuesday (21st May 2019). In 2011 and 2017, India had reached the quarter finals of the Sudirman Cup.

Gomathi Marimuthu Fails Dope Test Twice
An Indian Athlete Gomathi Marimuthu had been the biggest surprise for India by won the 800m gold at recent Asian athletics championships event held in Doha, but now she is in big doping trouble. For a banned steroid at last month's Doha Asians, the Tamilnadu athlete Gomathi Marimuthu has failed a dope test and now faces a 4 year ban. 

She had tested positive in the Federation Cup held more than a month before that, but the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) appears to have kept quiet about it. On Tuesday (23rd May 2019) evening from New Delhi she told to the News agency, "I don't know what really happened, I will surely be asking for my 'B' sample to be tested".
