Government To Lok Sabha: No Proposal To Scrap Sedition Law
On Tuesday (05th February 2019), the government on India informed the Lok Sabha that there is no proposal to scrap the sedition law, under which maximum punishment is life prison. 

Hansraj Ahir Union Minister of State for Home said, that the amendments in criminal laws are a continuous process and are made in consultation with various stakeholders which is including the state governments. He also said, no such proposal is under consideration of the government.

Television Actor Shilpa Shinde Joins Congress Today (5th Feb 2019)
On Tuesday (February 5th, 2019), popular TV actor Shilpa Shinde joined the Congress at a function in Mumbai. The Congress party's Maharashtra unit chief, Sanjay Nirupam, welcomed Shilpa Shinde and Charan Singh Sapra, party leader was also present at the function. 

Ms Shilpa Shinde aged 42 was made her TV debut in 1999, but she was became a popular with her role in a soap opera Bhabhi. The actor update herself with the super-hit sitcom "Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai", in which Shinde played the role of Angoori Bhabhi. 

She quit the show in 2016 over differences with the producers and she was replaced by Shubhangi Atre. In October 2017, Ms Shilpa Shinde participated in TV reality show named "Bigg Boss 11" and reveled as winner.

On Tuesday (5th February 2019), Sri Lanka batsman Angelo Perera created history and equals 81 years old record in first class cricket. He became the 2nd batsman to achieve one of the rarest feats in first class cricket. 

The Angelo Perera aged 28, who plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) and scored 2 double hundreds in a single first class match against Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) to achieve this record. The Nondescripts Cricket Club skipper Angelo Perera scored 201 runs off just 203 deliveries in the 1st innings and then 231 off just 268 balls in the 2nd innings. However, despite his brilliant effort, the match ended in a draw.



India Bids to Host Next Hockey World Cup


India Bids to Host Next Hockey World Cup
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) announced Tuesday (5th February 2019), India are among the 6 countries that have presented bids to host the next edition of the Hockey World Cup. India have proposed to conducting the Hockey World Cup event for either men or women in the January 13th to 29th, 2023, which has also been preferred by New Zealand and Australia. 

India have already hosted the men's World Cup thrice (3 times), the latest being last year in Bhubaneswar. Malaysia, Germany and Spain have proposed organizing the hockey world cup event in the July 1st to 17th, 2022.

International Hockey Federation said in a statement, the Bidding countries had to indicate until the deadline of 31st January 2019 also their preferred time window, either 1st to 17th July 2022 or 13th to 29th January 2023. Now FIH will starts the evaluation process of the bids. Finally, the execution board will make the decision on both hosts in June this year.
