Silent for 8 Months, NASA About to Pull the Plug on Mars Opportunity Rover
Before calling it quits, NASA is trying one last time to contact it's record setting Mars rover Opportunity. The NASA's rover has been silent for 8 months, because of one of the most intense dust storms in decades. Thick dust darkened the sky last summer for a months and blocked sunlight from the spacecraft's solar panels.

NASA said on Tuesday (12th February 2019), it will issue a final series of recovery commands on top of more than 1000 already sent. If there's no response by on Wednesday (13th Feb 2019), then the NASA suspects will be the case. The opportunity will be declared as dead, 15 years after arriving at the red planet.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey Given 6 Month Extension
A UP state government spokesman said on Wednesday (13th February 2019), that the UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has been given a 6 month extension by the Union government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, handpicked the 1984 batch officer to head the state bureaucracy on 28th June 2018, 2 days before the incumbent Rajive Kumar was to retire.

A government statement said, that Mr. Pandey was to retire on 28th February, but would now continue to be the Chief Secretary till 31st August. The Pandey extension was given to the top bureaucrat by the PM Narendra Modi government at the Centre by invoking the 3rd proviso of rule 16(1) of the AIS (DRCB) Rules of 1958.

Today (13th Feb 2019, Wednesday), the Lok Sabha passed a bill to protect gullible investors from ponzi schemes. The bill passes with Finance Minister Piyush Goyal who saying the government will ensure that no loophole is left while framing the rules.

The Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Bill, 2018 request to put in place a mechanism by which such depositors can be compensated and it has connected recommendations of the Standing Committee on Finance. Replying to a discussion on the Bill, Mr Goyal said, that the total of 978 cases of unauthorized deposit schemes. In that, 326 are from West Bengal (WB), which is more than 1/3 of the total such schemes.

On Wednesday (13-02-2019), Parliament approved PM Narendra Modi government's 6 and final Budget that gave Income Tax discount to those earning up to Rs. 5 lakh, an annual cash dole of Rs. 6000 to small farmers and pension for unorganized sector workers.

While the Lok Sabha has passed the Appropriation Bills that gave government authorization of cost certain sums till the next government presents the full Budget for 2019-2020. After full debate, the Finance Bill, the Rajya Sabha passed them without any discussion on Today (13th Feb 2019, Wednesday) which is the last day of the session. Shiv Pratap Shukla, the Minister of State for Finance has moved the Appropriation Bills and the Finance Bill that were approved by the voice vote.

Sarojini Naidu was born on 13th February 1879 in Hyderabad to scientist and philosopher Aghornath Chattopadhyaya and Barada Sundari Devi. She often referred as the "Nightingale of India". Sarojini Naidu was a freedom fighter, poet, a child prodigy and had many firsts under her hat.

Sarojini Naidu was the first Indian woman President of the Indian National Congress (INC) and also the first woman governor of an Indian state. She was a iconic life influenced Mahatma Gandhi. Today (13th Feb 2019) is her Sarojini Naidu's 140th birth anniversary.
