Mohamed Salah Retains African Award
On Tuesday (8th January 2019), for Egyptian football, Mohamed Salah completed a memorable day by retaining his African Player of the Year award in Senegal. Budget Session Likely From 31st January to 13th February

HC Say, Restrain Benefits Only to those on Below Poverty Line in TN
On Today (9 January 2019, Wednesday), the Madras High Court ordered to the TN state government to provide the Pongal cash gift of Rs. 1000 only to below poverty line people, not to other 3 above poverty line categories.
A Division Bench of Justices P. Rajamanickam and M. Sathyanarayanan passed the order on a public interest litigation petition. Justice Sathyanarayanan said to the state government, why are you distributing Rs. 1000 as Pongal gift to all ration card holders whatever of Tamilnadu economic status? It is not your party funds, it is public money.
Bishnupur Trinamool Congress MP Joins BJP
Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP, Soumitra Khan from Bishnupur, West Bengal on 9 January 2019, Wednesday quit the party. Mr Khan told the reporters, that he will join the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). The MP was inducted in Bharatiya Janata Party later during the day.
Soumitra Khan is the first Lok Sabha MP from the Trinamool Congress to have defected to BJP. Before that, the Mukul Roy, a Trinamool Congress MP to Rajya Sabha had joined in Bharatiya Janata Party. Mr Soumitra Khan was started his career with Congress party and he was elected as an MLA from the Congress in 2011 Assembly polls.

PM Narendra Modi on Today (9/1/2019) launched underground sewerage system and road projects developed at an worth of Rs. 1100 crore. At a public rally Modi launched the 4 laning of Solapur Osmanabad section of NH211, 3 sewage treatment plants and underground sewerage system.
The Rs. 972.50 crore toll road project will improve the connectivity between Solapur and Marathwada region. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Modi also laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 1811 cr housing project of 30000 units. The housing project will benefit the homeless poor people like rickshaw pullers, rag pickers, textile and beedi workers.
