The Prime Minister's Office said today (5th Jan 2019), the PM Modi has visit Odisha and Jharkhand to inaugurate various development projects. In Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will released a plate to mark foundation laying for renaissance of Mandal Dam (North Koel) project and Kanhar stone pipeline irrigation system and the development and conservation of Rasika Ray temple at ancient fort, Haripurgarh. 

He will inaugurate the 25,000 beneficiaries collective e-griha pravesh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana through video conferencing. After that, he will reach Odisha, Baripada where PM will dedicate to the nation Balasore multi modal logistic park and the Balasore Haldia Durgapur section of LPG pipeline project of IOCL. 

Finally, Prime Minster Modi will also flag off the second passenger train from Tatanagar to Badampahar at Baripada.

On Friday (4th January 2019), Croat Ivo Karlovic became the oldest man in more than 4 decades to reach an ATP final, after beating Steve Darcis at the Maharashtra Open in Pune. Karlovic, 40 years old, follows the footsteps of Australian legend Ken Rosewall who reached a tour level final at aged 43 at Sydney Indoor tournament in 1977. 

Karlovic defeated Darcis of Belgium by 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in the first semifinal of the Indian tournament and qualified for finals.

Yesterday (4th Jan 2019, Friday), the official said Malaysian Badminton star Lee Chong Wei resumed his training. Badminton Association of Malaysia secretary-general Ng Chin Chai told AFP, the former long time world number one Lee was seen to be in high spirits to get back to the court next week. 

Lee was stopped playing in the mid of last year, after discovered he had a early nose cancer in July and forcing him to pull out of regional games and world championships. The 3 times Olympic silver medal list Lee had to go through 33 sessions of proton therapy treatment in Taiwan and he was not giving up his dream of playing Tokyo 2020 Summer Games. 

He won the Malaysia's first ever Olympic gold medal at three consecutive Summer Games. Lee Chong Wei was returned to the sport in 2015 after authorities accepted he took the drug inadvertently.

To address a conference of party functionaries, 42,000 panna pramukh in Agartala, BJP national president Amit Shah will be in Tripura on 5th January 2019, Saturday. The page in charge and panna pramukh is the first point of contact for most voters in a BJP machinery. 

The BJP party assigns a page of electoral roll each to a panna pramukh and then maintains regular contacts with the voters who found a mention in that sheet. The party workers are known to have played crucial roles before Assembly elections in Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. After the meeting, Mr Shah will also meet Tripura cabinet minister and BJP's core groups. 

On Sunday (6th January 2019), Mr Shah will reach Nagar Haveli and Dadra. He will inaugurate a BJP office in Silvassa and also visit Nanded and Latur in Maharashtra during his trip.

Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara scored 159 not out and 193 respectively in the 1st innings of the 4th Test between India vs Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). 

The Sydney Cricket Ground honours the player who takes 5 wickets in a single innings or 10 wickets across both innings or who scores a century in a Test match at the iconic cricket venue by adding his name to the Honours Board in the away of dressing room. 

Pant and Pujara, who helped India cricket team post a big total of 622/7, Virat Kohli decided to declare the 1st innings. The both players were asked to sign in from of their names on the board after the 3rd day of 4th test play was abandoned due to rain on 5th January 2019, Saturday.

For Women Self Help Groups, Naveen Patnaik Announces Interest Free Loans
Today (5/01/2019, Saturday), Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik announced interest free loans of up to Rs. 3 lakh for women self help groups in the state. There are around 6 lakh WSHGs in Odisha. The Chief Minister said while addressing a Mission Shakti convention, i am glad to let you know that WSHGs will be getting loans at 0% interest.

The meeting was attended by around 50,000 women. He also said, that the initiative will benefit about 70 lakh women. This announcement was came hours before PM Modi arrived in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district to launch central government projects worth over Rs. 4,500 cr.
