In Global First, China Lands Probe on "Dark Side" of Moon
On Thursday (3rd January 2019), a Chinese lunar rover landed on the far side of the moon. In a global first that land was boosts Beijing's ambitions to become a space superpower. The state broadcaster CCTV said, that the Chang'e-4 probe touched down the moon and sent a photo of the dark side of the moon to the Queqiao satellite which will relay communications to controllers on Earth.

The Chang'e 4 lunar probe mission was named after the moon goddess in Chinese mythology launched in December 2018 from the southwestern Xichang launch centre. It is the 2nd Chinese probe to land on the moon after the Yutu (Jade Rabbit) rover mission in 2013.

India's Fastest "Train 18" to Run from Delhi to Varanasi
Today (Jan 3rd, 2019), the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, that the Train 18 will run from Delhi to Varanasi and the run time will be 8 hours, it will be one and a half time faster than the fastest train on the route. The railways authority said, that it had proposed 2 routes for Train 18. One was Delhi to Bhopal and another one was Delhi to Varanasi. This is the first time that the route has been officially confirmed.

Mr Goyal said, we have already tested the train successfully and the suggestions are being incorporated. The train will be shortly dedicated to the nation. We have requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi to flag it off the train. The official sources said, that the first commercial run of Train 18 would starts from next week, just ahead of the Kumbh Mela, which starts in Prayagraj on 14th January 2019.

In 2019, ISRO Planning to Launch 32 Space Missions
A top space official said, India is planning to launch 32 space missions in 2019. Chairman K. Sivan said in a message to his employees on Tuesday (1st January 2019), the year 2019 to be challenging to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) community with 32 planned missions.

The missions include the 2nd lunar mission Chandrayaan-2 to land on the moon with lander and rover. The lunar mission worth Rs. 800 cr will be the 25th from the 2nd launch pad of the spaceport at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh which is located 90 km northeast of Chennai. The India's first human space mission in 2021-2022, Gaganyaan, will also be followed this year.

The Punjab cabinet on Wednesday (2nd Jan 2019) was approved the online transfer policy of the school education department to make the process of transfers more rational and transparent. A spokesman said, that the step was taken to ensure equal opportunity for all employees (teachers) using online method for sought transfers. He also said, the transfer policy would become effective from academic session 2019-2020 (i.e. 1st April 2019).

This transfer policy would be applicable to all teaching cadre posts. He said, that the teachers would be compulsorily transferred after 7 years of service in a particular zone/ school has been removed. The newly married female teachers could seek transfer once in these 3 years, if they get married after appointment.

Under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) Act, the Madhya Pradesh state government has put on hold payment of pension to those who were detained during emergency. The scheme had been launched by the BJP government.

After a Weeks of returning to the power, Congress government has passed a government order direct to the officials to hold the monthly pension of Rs. 25,000/- until physical verification of former MISA detainees is over. It also cited auditors' objections to this scheme.
