During the siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Empire, in 1683 croissant was begins. The Turks try to made more attempts to enter Vienna, but they were all unsuccessful. Then the Turks decided to dig an under ground tunnel, but Vienna’s bakers heard the noise of digging and alerted the army. Bakers have made the croissant in the shape of half moon which is the symbol of the Turkish Empire to celebrate the victory.

Last Sunday of January every year, the World Leprosy Day were conducted, seeks to increase awareness about leprosy to public. Leprosy also known as Hansen's Disease which is highly contagious infection caused by bacterium Mycobacterium leprae.

Every year, in India, the Leprosy Day were celebrated on 30th January in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi who was massacre on this day in 1948. This Leprosy day was chosen by the French humanitarian Raoul Follereau as a tribute to the life of Mahatma Gandhi who had a lifelong compassion for people affected by Hansen's Disease/ leprosy.

After a year of Makkal Needhi Maiam party's journey with the people, now MNM is happy to announce its launch in the Puducherry Union Territory. Makkal Needhi Maiam was launched by Kamal Haasan on 21st February 2018 from his hometown of Rameswaram.

For JRF, Government Hikes Research Stipends as 20% Increase
Government has hiked the stipends of Senior Research Fellowship (SRF), Research Associates (RA) and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for basic science researchers. On Wednesday (30th January 2019), the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has officially announced, the coordinating body for deciding on remuneration and service guidelines for research fellowships in basic science stream. 

As per the order issued by the Department of Science and Technology, stipend for JRF has been increased to Rs. 31,000/- which is 20% more than the previous fellowship amount of Rs. 25,000/-. The remuneration for Research Associates, according to the revised fellowship is Rs. 47,000/- to Rs. 54,000/- per month.

On Wednesday (30th January 2019), Higher Education Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati said, we will be provided the free education to girls in state run institutions/ colleges in Rajasthan from July 2019.

At the time of addressing a press conference he said, Girls who studying in Rajasthan government colleges will be provided free education from the next academic session which starts from July onward. Also, will be given sanitary napkins to the female colleges students at free of cost.
