In this morning (22nd Jan 2019, Tuesday), the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be inaugurate by PM Narendra Modi in his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi in eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP). This is the 15th edition of the event and it is an annual gathering of overseas Indians. This is the 1st time, the event is being held in Varanasi. Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth will be the chief guest of this convention and a lawmaker of Norway, Mr. Himanshu Gulati will be the special guest.

On Tuesday (January 22nd, 2019), the International Cricket Council's (ICC) announced the Emerging Player Of The Year to Indian Wicket Keeper Rishabh Pant after shown their impressive performance in Australia series. Rishabh Pant, aged 21, wicket keeper & batsman scored 350 runs in the 4 match test series against Australia. In that, India won 2-1 and make history after 71 years and 11 attempts. 

In the 4th test in Sydney, Pant scored unbeaten 159 runs not out. He became the first Indian wicket keeper to score a test century in Australia. Also he equaled the record for most catches taken in a test with 11 against Australia.

Rishabh Pant and Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah were the other 2 Indians in the ICC men's Test team of the year.

Prime Minister Modi today (22nd January 2019) said, that the work is on to issue chip based ePassport to Indian citizens under a centralized passport system. PM Narendra Modi addressing the inaugural ceremony of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019 in Varanasi and said, our consulates and embassies are being connected to the Passport Seva Project worldwide. 

He also said, for all of you this will prepare a centralized system connected to the passport service and moving one step ahead, we concentrate to issuing of the chip based e-passport to all Indian Citizen. PM Modi also added, that the work was on to simplify the process of issuing visas to Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards.

The Indian run machine Virat Kohli was named captain of International Cricket Council's Test and One-day International teams and ICC Cricketer of the Year 2018 on Tuesday (22nd January 2019). 

Indian Captain Virat Kohli makes a history by becoming the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, as well as the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards and the ICC Men's Test Player of the Year. 

The ICC award was selected by the Voting Academy comprising of former players, broadcasters, members of the media and honor performances during a calendar year of 2018.

Setting aside the rest to the upper caste Kapus, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced, they will give 5% reservation to the economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Centre's 10% quota. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu made the announcement today (22nd January 2019) and said, we had requested the Centre to extend 5% reservation to the Kapu community long ago, but the BJPs leaders did not agree.

The chief minister told his party leaders during a teleconference, now, out of the 10% reservation provided by the Centre to the economically weaker sections, the Andhra Pradesh government will give 5% to Kapus and the balance to the economically weaker sections.

Last Rites of Karnataka Seer Shivakumara Swami to be held Today
With state honors on the temple premises at 04:30 pm today (22-01-2019), the funeral of Dr. Shivakumara Swami head seer of the Sree Siddaganga Mutt in Karnataka's Tumkur, will be conducted. On Monday (21st January 2019), he was died after a prolonged illness at the age of 111.

Dr. Shivakumara Swami was popularly known as the "Walking God" and he was respected by many in the state and several politicians cutting across party lines arrived at the siddaganga mutt to pay their respects after his death. While Karnataka CM H.D. Kumaraswamy announced 3 days mourning across the state.
