ISRO Launches Young Scientist Programme
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday (18th January 2019) announced Young Scientist programme, in order to teaching and nurture space research of enthusiasm in young minds. ISRO Chairman, Dr K Sivan said, mostly 8th standard passed out students are selected under this one month programme, will be given lecturers and access to research laboratories.

From 29 States and 7 Union Territories, there will be 3 students were selected from each  for the Young Scientist program. Dr. K Sivan said, that the students will get a practical experience by building small satellite.

On Today (18 January 2019), Pakistan's new chief justice was sworn, pledging reform of a Supreme Court whose controversial decisions include dismissal a PM and freeing a Christian accused of blasphemy. After a televised ceremony at President's House in Islamabad, the judge take the oath in front a crowd of dignitaries.

Asif Saeed Khan Khosa aged 64, became the 26th Chief Justice of Pakistan. After taking oath, Khosa said, "I will do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favour".

Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy today (Jan 18th, 2019) said, that the Central government should offer the Bharat Ratna on Tumakuru Siddaganga mutt's 111 year old pontiff Shivakumara Swami. In 2006 itself, I had recommended Bharat Ratna for Swami for his good work.

Mr Kumaraswamy told to media, if necessary, we will meet PM Modi to grant the award to Swami. The Swami has been in and out of hospitals lately due to advanced age. He is currently being treated at the Siddaganga mutt in Tumakuru which is 70 km northwest of Bengaluru.

For Civic Polls, Rajasthan Cabinet Approves Removal of Education Criteria
On Thursday (17th January 2019), for contesting local body elections, the Rajasthan cabinet approved 2 amendments bills to do away with the condition of minimum educational qualification. The official statement said, the Rajasthan Municipalities (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2019 will be introduced in the Assembly during the present session.

In 2015, the education criteria was introduced by the previous Vasundhara Raje led BJP's government. For contesting municipal,panchayat samiti or zila parishad elections, tt requires a candidate to pass 10th Class. In tribal reserved areas, required to have passed 8th Class or 5th Class for the post of a sarpanch.

PM Narendra Modi today (Friday, 18th Jan 2019) highlighted the policies of BJPs government as he stressed investors to be part of India's growth story. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, while addressing the "Vibrant Gujarat Summit" in Gandhinagar,  that the policies initiated by BJPs government has helped the country to improve its ranking in the World Bank's doing business report.

India is now ready for business as never before. In the Global Ranking of World Bank's Doing Business Report, we have jumped 65 places in the past 4 years. But we are still not satisfied. PM said, I have asked my team to work more harder so that India is in the top 50 next year.

Japan Sends Artificial Meteors into Space
Japanese scientists said, on 18th January 2019, a rocket carrying a satellite on a mission to deliver the world's first artificial meteor shower blasted into space. In Tokyo, a start up based developed the micro satellite for the celestial show over Hiroshima early next year as the initial experiment. Its calls a "shooting stars on demand" service.

Through the atmosphere, the satellite is to release tiny balls that glow brightly as they hurtle. Its look like a meteor shower.
