India's Most Powerful Satellite 'The Big Bird' Launched Successfully
Today (05-12-2018, Wednesday), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) GSAT-11 satellite also called 'Big Bird' was successfully launched into space from French Space Port of Kourou in South America.

The Bid Bird was launched at 02.07 am and it will help to provide satellite based internet to remote places where the cable based internet can't reach. The GSAT-11 has cost about Rs. 600 Cr. and weighing 5854 kg. This launch was 2nd attempt after ISRO first one failed in May earlier this year.

Dr K Sivam, ISRO Chief said, that the Big Bird is the next generation high communication satellite that will help to providing broadband services across the country and also provide a platform to demonstrate new generation applications.

The World Soil Day is usually held on the same date every year i.e. 5th December and this awareness day celebrated by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome. 

The World Soil Day event aims to raise awareness of the importance of soil quality. The Soil day was 1st considered by International Union of Soil Science in 2002, but was not officially approval by FAO until 2013.

Today (Wednesday, 05th December 2018) J Jayalalitha, Former Tamilnadu CM was remembered on her 2nd death anniversary with silent marches, pledges and floral tributes. 

AIADMK leaders Chief Minister K Palaniswami and O Pannerselvam headed the party workers to a silent march from Anna Salai to Marina Beach where the former AIADMK leader was buried. The Senior cabinet ministers, supporters, leaders are all joined the peace march.

In Coal Scam Case, Ex Bureaucrat HC Gupta Punishment to 3 Years in Jail
On Wednesday (5th December 2018), a Delhi court punished former coal secretary HC Gupta to three years prison in a coal block scam that happened during the previous UPA regime at the centre. The remaining 2 other bureaucrats, KC Samria and KS Kropha were also awarded 3 year jail. 

Other convicted Vikas Patni, Managing Director of Vikash Metals and Power Ltd and its authorized signatory Anand Mallick to 4 years jail term sentenced by special judge Bharat Prasar and then one lakh was imposed on the company.
