Elon Musk's SpaceX to Raise $500 Million in Funding
On Tuesday (18th December 2018), the wall street journal said, that the Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX Corp is set to raise $500 million at a $30.5 billion valuation. 

The SpaceX is raising the capital from existing share holders and new investor of the third largest share holder in Musk led electric car maker Tesla Mr. Baillie Gifford & Co. Starlink, WSJ said, the company plans to invest the fund in the companies satellite Internet service. 

In April 2019, Reuters reported that Elon Musk's SpaceX was raising $507 million in a new round of funding, valuing the company at around $26 billion.

White House: Donald Trump will Attend World Economic Forum in Davos
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said on Tuesday (18th December 2018), United States President Donald Trump will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos next month. 

Sanders said, that the Trump will attend the forum as he did last year, who added that Trump's adviser Ivanka and Trump's daughter would also participate as part of the US delegation to the annual talks which is held at a Swiss ski resort. 

Also the Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner will attend the forum along with Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. After taking his "America First" agenda to the global business elite last year, it will be the 2nd time the Republican president Donald Trump has attended Davos.

From Chandigarh To Ladakh, Air Force Lifts Record Load In 6 Hours
To enhance crew currency in the role and to evaluate its own 'Rapid Airlift Capability', the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force in a single wave air lifted a record 463 tonne's of load from its airbase at Chandigarh to airfields Ladakh on Tuesday (Dec 18, 2018). 

The airlift of approximately 500 tonnes in a single wave in the achieved time frame. This record was accomplished with the aid of 16 fleet, fixed wing transport aircraft comprising of C-17 Globe master, the Medium lift Tactical aircraft Antonov-32 and the Ilyushin-76 Gajraj. All the aircraft were loaded and took off from airbase Chandigarh at early morning. The entire wave was accomplished in little less than 6 hours.

On 18th Dec, 2018 (Tuesday), Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu conducted an aerial survey of Phethai Cyclone hit districts of West and East Godavari in the state. Then Chief Minister interacted with people filing in a relief camp at Bhairavapalem and asked for the details about foods and other facilities. 

The officials said about 12 crew members and fishermen of 3 deep sea fishing drag boats, who went missing in the Bay of Bengal on 17th December 2018, Monday were reported safe on 18th December 2018, Tuesday. At sea off Kakinada coast, group of 14 fishermen were rescued in an operation by the Coast Guard. 

The CM Chandrababu Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh Government could make effective use of technology and precisely estimate the cyclone movement. We could take all precautions measures and ensure there was no loss of life.

Today (19th Dec 2018) former Minister Basharat Bukhari was joined in the National Conference (NC), after he was expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was expelled for his anti party activities. 

Mr Bukhari was here at NC chief Farooq Abdullah's residence and joined the National Conference party in the presence of two former Omar Abdullah and J&K Chief Ministers. 

Another PDP leader Peer Muhammad Hussain who was expelled, was also expected to join the National Conference later in the day at the party headquarters.

ISRO's 'Angry Bird' Takes Flight in Sky
A ISRO's communications satellite has taken off from Sriharikota spaceport, that will help to connect all assets of Indian Air Force (IAF) and work as a force multiplier. Along with GSAT-6 and GSAT-7, this new satellite (GSAT-7A), dubbed the "Indian Angry Bird" for the use of Indian Military, that will form a band of communications satellite.

The GSAT-7A will connect all Air Force assets like drones, planes, air-borne early warning control platforms, ground stations and building a centralized network. In this year, the GSAT-7A satellite is the 17th mission and last launch of Indian space agency ISRO. Also it was the 69th rocket launch from Sriharikota. The ISRO's 2,250 Kg military communications satellite GSAT-7A was launched today on board the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MK-II.

Kerala's Captive Elephants Get Own Genetic IDs, In a First
For the 1st time in the country, Kerala's captive elephants have now got their own genetic IDs. The Kerala Forest department with the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram, technical support has prepared the DNA database of all the registered captive elephants across the state.

The DNA profiling of over 519 elephants has registered with the department and has been completed. The forest department said, with this Kerala has become the first in the country to have prepared the DNA based genetic IDs of its entire captive elephant population. The Kerala forest department is now planning to develop a mobile app to make use of the details available in the database.

Goa Liberation Day on Dec 19
Today (19th December 2018), India celebrates the 57th Goa Liberation Day in commemoration of the Indian armed forces freeing Goa from Portuguese rule. On 19th December 1961, India completed Operation Vijay, ending Portugal's 450 year rule over the state.

Operation Vijay was kicked off on December 17, 1961. Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru ordered military intervention, after diplomatic efforts with the Portugal's administration failed. The 3000 Portugal army was ill-prepared to handle the attack by 3000 strong Indian forces. The war had lasted 2 days and had cost 30 Portugal's and 22 Indian lives.
